Silly Forbes always writes great books.
Includes 1) The Governess of Belgreen Manor. I love all her books. It’s about a young lady Juliet the daughter of a Duke but her father wanted to force her to marry someone that would benefit him financial. I didn’t like her father. He didn’t care that he was mean. So she ran away. She ended up as governess for two little girls of the Marquess of Belgreen. She fell in love but a governess is not of a Marquess social status. Then her father found her and drag her back. He wanted her back for his business deal. I can’t say what’s going to happen. But It was a very good to read. 2) A Mysterious Lady for the Broken Duke. I loved this book. This book started out with a lot of misery. This story comes at a time in history back before women had any rights. Their father owned them until they were given in marriage. Through a series of events, Lady Diana life was changed overnight. Diana, having trusted too soon before he was proven to be trustworthy, was in misery. Making it worse because a woman’s reputation can be changed just from gossip alone. Back then, they couldn’t just choose a better man next time. Women had to do the best they could to deal with the decisions that have been made for them. After reading this book, I realized again that evil begets evil. She could only hope that a man of integrity would come along to change the course of her life again. 3) A Beauty for the Earl’s Duty. This book is about Lady Bridget Alterton’s Father lost all their money and now she has to find a rich gentleman to marry. Peter Henderson grew up in America and went to England to receive his father’s inheritance. However, he has to find a wife before he can collect his inheritance. This book is the story about their relationship.November 1, 2021

Giggles Galore
Good but too many giggles for sophisticated ladies of the British Ton. Please review a list of alternative words such as soft laughter etc. Petty of me, therefore 4 stars instead of 3 stars. But the word was used overmuch for adult titled women. My mother and my senior English teacher taught me that children and teen girls giggle, not adult women, especially as used as much as was done in a book concerning murder and duties of adult women.September 27, 2021

Sweet and romantic
I hadn’t read the first two books and I enjoyed them. Strong hero’s, conflicted but willing to step up and save the day when it counted. The last one was very good too with mystery, unexpected murder, and sweet romance.September 27, 2021

An interesting collection of stories written by Sally Forbes. Each story has a strong story line and equally strong and engaging characters. The stories each have enough adventure and twists and turns to keep you turning the pages. Three engaging tales of Regency love – sometimes a little far-fetched perhaps, but it is fiction.
Three books for the price of one makes this very good value, although you may already have some if you follow this author. Book 1: The Governess of Belgreen Manor: The heroine flees a horrible suitor and mends a broken family with her love. A sad Marquess needs help to get past the grief of his wife’s untimely death, and a duke’s daughter escapes from an uncceptable betrothal to hide out as governess to his two unhappy daughters. Love heals all, and there is a puppy too! Then disaster strikes, and the worst is only avoided by the narrowest of margins – and all ends well. There are some delightful secondary characters, especially Nancy – you’ll see when you meet her. If you like your romance sweet and clean, with a bit of suspense, then this is for you. Book 2: A Mysterious Lady for the Broken Duke: Another enjoyable read showing both good and bad aspects of family life. This is the second of this author’s books that I have reiewed, and it is as enjoyable as the first one, with characters you will want to see overcoming the obstacles, which at first seem insurmountable. There are some lovely secondary characters, including a lively four-year-old, and a few less pleasant ones who eventually fail to impede the HEA. Book 3. A Beauty for the Earl’s Duty: A Romance with several scoundrels, 1 of whom reforms, and murderous villains. Both main characters have difficult family issues that seriously impact their lives, although in the end, they prevail, in spite of greedy and unscrupulous people who do not want them to be together, leading to attempted murder, so this book has a little more substance than some romances. However, most of the characters, particularly the main ones, are likeable and good-hearted, so you will be pleased when it all comes right in the end. Love’s a mystery, one to be solved.

What more could you ask for
What more could you ask for than, not one but three clean sweet Regency romances by author Sally Forbes in one box set. Perfect reading for anytime. All three books featuring strong female characters that suffer adversity through no fault of their own. Three ladies, three saves reputations, three love match marriages
This is a 3 book set of Sally Forbes’ wonderful novels that exhibit her exceptional writing talent. All 3 books have well developed characters that are real people that the reader can identify with and understand their problems. The plots for the books are superbly engaging and very entertaining with suspense, action, romance, and true love. It keeps the reader involved and reading to find out if there is to be a favorable outcome. You must get this collection for your library. Book 1 “The Governess of Belgreen Manor” To avoid a loveless marriage to a despicable man, the Earl of Falstone, who was selected by her father, Lady Juliet disappears from her home and take a job as a commoner governess for two young daughters of a widowed Marquess, Arthur Colborne. Juliet falls in love with her charges as well as their father. He lost his wife in childbirth and he is still brooding and avoiding his daughters. Juliet shows him how wonderful love for his daughters can be and he falls for her. Juliet’s father finds her and brings her back to marry Falstone. Realizing that he must have Juliet, Arthur barges into the wedding ceremony and halts the proceedings to get his true love. Book 2 “A Mysterious Lady for a Broken Earl” Five years ago Lady Diana’s courtship was called off by Jasper, Marquess of Winsby. He convinced her to give him her virtue, she became with child, and then he denied his part and abandoned her. To prevent her father from finding out , Diana’s mother spirited her off to a spinster cousin in Bath to have the baby, which she gave up to adoption immediately after birth. She has just returned to London after 5 years Luke is to celebrate Christmastide with her family. Luke Egerton, Duke of Norbury is in London spending Christmastide with his mother, the Dowager, and her adopted daughter. 7 years ago he left London after his betrothed, Lady Claire, confessed that she was in love with his best friend, vowing to never fall in love again. Luke meets Diana at a ball and asks her to dance with him and they both feel attracted to each other. They meet again when he is on an outing with his stepsister, and their feelings blossom into a romance. Family secrets from both families seem to dictate that they separate but they meet and have a clandestine kiss. That is seen by Jasper, and he threatens Diana with the scandal he could cause. That has he father to quickly arrange a marriage to a business partner. Luke’s love for Diana forces him to break up the ceremony. Family surprised are revealed and Luke asks her father for her hand. After the wedding the family secrets add to the romance. Book 3 “A Beauty for the Earls Duty” Lady Bridget’s reputation in the Ton has suffered because of her father’s wastrel ways which has left the family almost penniless hence being the oldest daughter she need a husband to save the family. Peter Henderson just became the new Earl if Hemingford when his father dies. He grew up in America and never knew his father, but is surprised at a condition of the will that he be married an produce an heir within a year to fully take position of his inheritance and title. He meets Bridget at a ball and they are immediately attracted to each other. There is a question if court ship will work given her reputation In addition Peter’s cousin, who will get the inheritance if he does not fulfill the conditions has some surprises that will impact his potential betrothal. There is a great ending that involves murder and an attempt on Peter’s life.September 8, 2021

All sweet clean reads
I have read these books in past and enjoyed them each along with giving reviews on each. Now as a collection I can also recommend them. Each story has a bit of different plot but they do share a common trait which is a lady in distress along with intrigue that is woven within until all gets worked out and leaves you with a sweet hea. I, personally enjoyed the first two the most. In the third story I was not as impressed with Bridget although there was a bit of intrigue that I did enjoySeptember 7, 2021

Interesting Stories, But Could Use Some Editing
The stories in this collection are good, but the writing could use some punching up. The dialogue feels stilted, partly because the author doesn’t use contractions very often and partly because the interactions between the characters feel awkward. The text could also use a more thorough proofreading to correct missing commas and comma usage errors, awkward, confusing sentence structures, and a few malapropisms. There were also a few places where I found myself wondering at the characters’ knowledge or ignorance of period manners, customs, and conventions in some scenes. Historicity matters for some readers more than others, so to each their own on this aspect. Despite these issues, the collection is an entertaining enough read for an afternoon’s diversion.September 7, 2021
