  Way too many errors
  
  There were way too many incomplete sentences, making it very difficult to read. It made the novel seem very juvenile

  Do you have an editor?
  
  Alhough the storyline is interesting, the writing needs a good editor. There is far too much explanation that would be much better shared through dialogue. Did anyone proofread this book? There are repeated punctuation errors. The use of personal pronouns without antecedants is confusing. Again, use of dialogue would solve that problem. The most distracting thing for me is the numerous dependent that are used as complete sentences. All of these issues could be resolved by the use of a good editor and careful proofreading.

  It was a story of a love that Thora never thought she would ever Have. But Alexander comes into her life and changes everything for her. She had a scar from a riding accident and she wore a veil all The time. She learned that someone can love her without the veil. It is a story of ups and downs but they finally fall in love

  Sweet story but poorly told
  
  I love the idea behind the story, though I find the title misleading. (The earl is NOT reclusive) I am partway through the story and don’t think I can finish it. There are so many punctuation errors and sentence fragments as well as the overuse of exclamation points. It is painful to read. I was reporting content error on my kindle but finally gave up. It was taking too long to read even a few pages. I really wanted to like this book; it had so much hope. I just wonder if there was ever an editor involved???

  Claudia and Alexander’s Love story this was
  
  This was a captivating and clean romance that showed how you can still love someone even with a disfigurement by looking beyond it to the person they are inside as well. It was filled with complex issues and strong emotions. It definitely had intrigue and suspense. It had me wanting to keep turning the page to see what would happen next. Most of the main characters are wonderful. It had an extremely happy ending for all. I recommend reading this good short story.

  This book had so many sentence fragments that it was painful to read. It was difficult at times to sort out what the author was trying to say. I wanted to know how it turned out, so I read it to the end, but I truly couldn’t wait to get through it! Yuck!

  Alexander and Thora
  
  Ms. Barwood has taken a “taboo” subject and written a delightful and thoughtful book. I enjoyed this book immensely. Alexander initially only wants to help Thora , because she assisted his sister. As he helps her, he falls in love with her, although he doesn’t realize that love is what he is feeling. Thora is used to staying “unseen” and in the background. She has to be coaxed into accepting a dance with Alexander, and their relationship progresses from there. It’s not all smooth sailing, what relationship is, but the two of them do get their HEA. I received an ARC copy of this book. These are my thoughts regarding this book. I would recommend this book to anyone looking for a clean Regency period story.

  Interesting story
  
  Alexander and Thora’s story was an interesting story but at times I wanted to shake Alexander and tell him to stand up to his mother and do what HE wants–mainly declare his love for Thora marry her (which he eventually did) and the were many parts where I wanted to shake Thora and tell her to stop putting herself down. All in all it was an enjoyable read that was a clean love story.

  I loved this story. So many tales are about perfect people, but this one is better than those! I loved the characters (mostly). I also thought the conflicted lady brought a very tender highlight to this tender story. Great writing, full of emotion.

  The book has little substance and the style of narrative is light and not particularly well written. The earl is not reclusive the bride is. Consistency of titles and honorifics is lacking . Its not a bad book its just not a good book. Inhad to force myself to finish it as it bored me.

  The #Scarred Beauty
  
  Alexander, the Earl, was known as a rake. Thora was scarred terribly down her face in a horse accident. Her father, a known drunk and gambler, was near to bankruptcy and planned to use his daughters to obtain money. His eldest daughter was treated like a servant and trained to think herself worthless. This is a great novel which proves the ton wrong. I read as an ARC and highly recommend.

  Such a beautiful story. The young man had a hard time convincing the young lady that she had worth. The relationship was on and off so many times due to her self doubts and his lack of communication. Gossip can be so cruel. A happy ending and a tying up of all loose ends made it so much more enjoyable. I look forward to reading more by this Author!

  Sweet and clean
  
  The love story is sweet. The hero tries to help people he feels have been ill used and some how that earned him a reputation as a rake. The heroine is his next project as she is scarred from an accident and shunned by society and in some ways her family, especially her gambling and boozing father. As they get to know each other their feelings get engaged. The problem is she has self esteem issues and he doesn’t always look at thing from another person’s perspective. It was a good read, but could have used more dialogue.

  Love Comes Unexpectactly
  
  Two people find themselves attracted to each other. Alex, an Earl has a heart for the underdog and when he sees how Thora is treated, he decides to do something about it. He wants her accepted by society regardless of her scars and as he puts his plan in place and spends time with her, he finds himself falling in love.   Beauty is in the eye of the beholder
  
  Thora was a great beauty, something her despicable father had planned to use to his advantage by marrying her off to a wealthy man who could pay his debts. When a riding accident leaves her with a facial scar which, in society’s eyes makes her unmarriageable, he has no more use for her. He is cruel to his wife and daughters, even worse to the servants, and generally unpleasant to everyone. He is financially irresponsible, selfish, and too fond of drink. Once his youngest daughter, Chloe, has debuted he plans to marry her off to a 70 year old man in exchange for a sizable bribe. Alexander is completely opposite. He tries to help those in distress, and has at times been the subject of mistaken gossip as a result. He meets Thora at Chloe’s coming out ball, when she is the only one to help his sister after a fall, while everyone else just laughs. He is grateful, and impressed by her kindness and compassion. He is angered by the dismissive way her father treats her, and decides he must find a way to help her. He also feels drawn to her, finding they have much in common. He feels differently about her than any of the debutantes his mother has been pushing at him. Before long, he realizes he has fallen in love. Thora is surprised, and more than a little bit frightened by his attention, as she is used to hiding in the background. Will she allow herself to feel for him? Enjoyable story about two people looking for HEA, having to overcome pressure from society and family, and their own fears. Voluntary ARC review.

  Reads almost like a bedtime story not like a life being lived. Alexander and Thora: A great couple once you get past all the denial from both. Alexanders compliments to Thora in the most positive way is the only encouragement she seems to get, no one else can do that for her. Thora’s father the Viscount is so self-centered and a drunk it hurts to even read about his thoughts. To think he can change in so short of time is so silly it’s unbelievable.

  Wonderful love story with a twist. Thora Kingsley was left with a scarred face following a riding accident. Her future as a spinster was set that horrible day. As a known rake, Lord Alexander removed himself from society. Yet he knew he had to chaperone his sister.When he met Thora something stirred within him. This a well written love story with very engaging characters. Definitely worth reading!

  Very well written, super sweet love story. Has lots of romance, emotions and a great storyline/plot. Each character is so well defined and developed. Alexander is an Earl who really doesn’t want to be Society and doesn’t want to marry due to his parents marriage. He meets Thora , who has facial scars from an accident and tries to hide behind a veil. As she moves in Society, she is treated not well. They meet and both learn that they are beginning to have feelings for each other. But they must get past their own issues to get to their happily ever after. Excellent story to curl up with and enjoy, you will not want to put it down. Would recommend to everyone. I am an ARC and leave this unbiased, honest review.

  Hardly any dialogue
  
  There were mostly descriptions of the conversations the characters were having without actually writing what they said. I couldn’t get a real feel for the characters because of this. I wanted to know exactly what they were saying to each other. It kept me from really getting into this book. Most of the dialogue happened at the very end of the book and I was left wishing there had been dialogue throughout the book.
