Quick enjoyable read
I enjoy short reads when my work life is busy, and love period romance novels. I enjoyed this one, it was a quick read I felt it was cute and true to the time period. I do wish there was a bit more about the main characters relationship, and more depth. I was not fan of the main characters friendly connections that gave them advice. They were needed in the story, but they seemed flat, it really was due to a lack of details. While I enjoyed the read and characters overall I didn’t feel extremely connected and felt I easily could have with just a little more. True to the time this book was not about physical romance, it was more about the ton and social conflict, mild romance more innocent not steamy.June 16, 2025

The duke, Philip was betrayed once and has a hard time trusting. But he decided with encouragement from his mother to try and make this marriage work as they do have common ground. A lovely and beautifully written story by a talented author. One foolish moment connects Blanche a bluestocking to Phillip a reclusive duke. These two characters have both strengths, weaknesses and secrets that must be worked on if they are ever going to have an opportunity to have more than just a convenience marriage. I just love to see women who are passed over for foolish ideas find HEA with high ranking ton. Feeds my beliefs in forever hopefulness.June 12, 2025
