Beautiful hair creatures have always been adorable as they are today! Of course these fluffy balls were bigger than we know today. Also, most of them were white or cream in color, not the foxy red you see on all the dog-fancier calendars.
They’re descended from Spitz-type dogs that originated in the coldest nether regions of the world, which explains the abundant fur and high-octane personality. So how this breeds attract the socially powerful of Regency?

Before long, everyone wanted one, as evidenced by many portraits from the eighteenth and nineteenth centuries. Later on, Charlotte’s granddaughter, Queen Victoria, had a tiny red Pom, which sparked the tiny-red-Pom fad we have to this day.” – Elisa Braden.
Bloodhounds
This is the breed that any man of nobility would love to own! Large and massive with heart of gold and faith to his owner, sweet and friendly but the most important? His nose! One of the best hunting partners for Regency England and one of the most loyal friends among villains ?. Dukes, Earls, Viscounts used to own one or more Bloodhounds.
Pugs
You know those short-haired, smooshy-faced little dogs with the bulging eyes and piglet tail? Yeah, the ones so ugly they’re cute. Or so cute they’re irresistible, depending on your point of view. Those are Pugs. And they’ve been around a long time—since at least 400 B.C. In the eighteenth and nineteenth centuries, the Pug was a favorite lapdog of genteel types all over Europe. Known as mischievous charmers, these little guys make great characters in books.

Dandie Dinmont Terriers
Terriers of many kinds (Dandies, Westies, Scotties, and the rest) were around in early-nineteenth-century Britain, but back then, they functioned less as house pets and more as pest patrol. Many were bred for the specific purpose of climbing into tunnels and other tight spots where rats, foxes, badgers, and the like resided.
